Absurdly out of sorts

When I was young, I used to often imagine silly things and then say to my friends "Hey, imagine if [blah blah blah]".  Thankfully my friends had a good sense of the absurd, so we generally ended up laughing about my silly imaginings.

As an adult, I still have these absurd imaginings, but generally I don't share them because they seem to arise when I am pottering around on my own or when I'm with work colleagues who think I'm an upright professional kind of a person (an illusion I've no inclination to debunk).

This evening after work I was walking through the Domain on the way to the ferry and I thought that I'd like to give my friend Holly a call.  But then I decided that it would be too awkward to walk along with the phone up to my ear, because then I would have to carry my bags in my one spare hand.  So I thought that perhaps I could give her a call when I got to the ferry.  But I didn't like that idea because I don't like talking on the phone much when I'm on public transport.  And then.... I had an imagining...

Imagine if you were sitting on the ferry on a seat in a row of seats with no-one else in it.  And you were talking to a friend on the phone.  Then someone came and sat on another seat in the row.  And you said audibly to your friend on the phone "oh, geez, I really want to talk to you, but some clown has just come along and sat in the row here."  Then you give a sideways leer at the newcomer, sticking your lower jaw out a bit, and continue on to your friend "yeah, I know, feck, I wish I could feking talk to you, but this bozo in the row just gives me the creeps."  More sideways leers at the newcomer, more jaw sticking out.  Perhaps a pick of the nose.  Whatever, just something to make the newcomer think "this is freaking weird."

I would like to secretly film such a set up.  Generally my imaginings end up with me wanting to film someone watch someone else doing something really socially out of sorts.  I wonder what Freud would think about that...?!

And on a different note, this evening the sky turned from sunny to stormy in the space of a ferry ride.
